On May 5, 2025, the international cultural heritage community came together at the CAA Conference 2025 for the workshop “Towards a Green Cluster for Cultural Heritage”, an event showcasing how collaborative EU-funded research is tackling the environmental and technological challenges in cultural heritage preservation.
The Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso, a stunning example of medieval architecture located along the historic Via Francigena near Turin, is at the forefront of innovative heritage conservation. As part of the ARGUS project, an EU-funded initiative aimed at using AI-powered monitoring and remote sensing, Ranverso has become a testing ground for non-invasive preservation techniques.
Popular beliefs say that the renowned artist Gaudí took inspiration from its chimneys to design the famous La pedrera building in Barcelona. Believe it or not, Baltanás is home to one of the country’s most remarkable yet lesser-known cultural treasures—a vast underground cellar town. This extraordinary site, comprising 374 cellars carved into the earth, is not just a testament to Spain’s winemaking heritage but also a living reminder of the region’s deep-rooted traditions.
